Role Summary

We are currently seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced Operations Officer to fill the one (1) position within CHC Helicopter on a touring basis.

 

The role is a Casual/seasonal position, requiring the successful candidate to tour in CHC operational bases primarily Broome base. Reporting to the Base Manager, you will work as part of a localized team to provide support to ensure efficient and effective base operations.

 

The Operations Officer is responsible for the coordination of the daily flying program, the maintenance and cleanliness of the operations room, client liaison regarding flying schedule, flight crew roster administration, production of manifests and related documentation, ramp supervision and general base administration duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • A safety champion who will challenge unsafe acts and pursue improvements in safety behaviour within the business.
  • Build capabilities by developing self and others to deliver time and time again.
  • Comply with all Company health, environmental safety and security, equal opportunity/sexual harassment policies and occupational health and safety procedures.
  • Equip the Operations room with the necessary publications and other relevant information that is required to enable flight crews to conduct pre-flight planning.
  • Complete a full check of the Ops room daily to ensure all required functions can be carried out. Check computer software and base radio facilities are serviceable prior to commencement of the daily flying program.
  • Maintain Reception Area and/or Briefing Area to ensure safety and cleanliness standards are maintained.
  • Complete all operational reports/information as designated.
  • Complete the Daily Flying Program
  • All flights and accommodation are in place for touring staff as per published rosters.
  • Co-ordinate SAR and medevac responses in accordance with Company procedures with reference to local procedures and the ERP Manual.
  • Ensure that flight crews are advised of their duty periods and any changes to their roster.
  • AIMS data entry i.e., liaison with BM/SBE/SBP to facilitate timesheet data being entered each week.
  • Ensure the operations and hand over OPSO duty logs are recorded in an efficient manner and handed over to the oncoming Operations Officer.
  • Compile daily reports and collect daily/weekly contract statistics for the base
  • Collaboratively work with other OSA/CHC Departments at a base level, to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the operation.
  • Liaise with our clients daily to assist with maximising flight scheduling and providing safe and efficient operation.
  • Ensure the base radio facilities are serviceable prior to the commencement of the daily flying program.
  • Perform duties that may be assigned by Base Manager from time to time

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes

  • Experienced in a similar role is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Competent computer skills especially with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • The ability to work autonomously under general direction.
  • Team oriented ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Demonstrate a positive, flexible and adaptable approach.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Experienced and comfortable in dealing with different cultures and difficult situations.
  • An Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate (AROC).
  • Check in and ground handling experience an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Offshore Aviation Emergency Response procedures.
  • Experience with Flight Following procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal, decision making and communication skills and customer centric approach.
  • The ability to work as part of an effective team, maintaining adaptability and a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Experience with Vantage POB desirable.
  • Aviation and Offshore Operations experience is highly desirable.
  • Dangerous Goods Accept course highly desirable.
