CHC Helicopter has a rare opportunity for a Base Manager to join the team at our Broome base of Operations.

 

The role is a permanent full-time opportunity, requiring the successful candidate to reside in Broome, travel may be required to our interstate and overseas locations.

Reporting to the Contract Manager, the role is responsible for the day-to-day management of all Business and Operational Base activities in Broome including operational oversight of the Truscott base, to meet CHC and Client contractual requirements creating the safest possible environment. The BM will ensure that the bases and its people are compliant to all legislative and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • A visible safety champion who will challenge unsafe acts and pursue improvements in safety culture and behaviour.
  • A visible leader of all global and regional initiatives in relation to Safety, business KPI’s, people, finance, and a relentless advocate of integrity at all levels.
  • Develop highly effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders whether they are internal (at a global, regional and in country level and particularly with the regional management team) and externally (regulators, employee groups and trade unions).
  • Build team capabilities by developing self and others to deliver time and time again.
  • Manage third Party contractors supplying services to the base and ensure alignment and adherence to safety and service deliverables.
  • Accountable to ensure KPI targets are achieved at the Base Level.
  • Accountable to ensure safety reports are submitted to customers within contracted timeframes.
  • Support Contract Manager in all aspects of the operations on base.
  • Performs Operations Officer duties, resulting in leave of absence or gaps with the term as required.
  • Actively responds and resolves conflicts and disciplinary issues on the base as per Enterprise Agreements.
  • Ensures engagement levels on the base is high and that communication is two way.
  • Proactively identify and establish continuous improvements in base operations including embracing new systems and technologies such as AIMS, AMOS and WORKDAY.
  • Responsible to the relevant manager for the allocation of crews to cover daily base requirements while adhering to the duty limitations and fatigue risk management systems.
  • Manage all principle OMA accountabilities as outlined in the company’s operations Manual Part A.
  • Support Director Operations with customer reviews, metrics, and service.
  • Efficient & cost-effective control, planning & administration of the base.
  • Manages base expenses to approved budget.
  • Manage all principle SMS accountabilities as outlined in the company’s SMS compliance procedures.

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes

Desired

  • Diploma of Management, Leadership or Aviation related course
  • 3-5 years of Operational or logistics management, with at least two (2) years in a leadership position; or an equivalent combination of experience in similar operations.
  • Experience with managing people and processes in a highly regulated environment.

Highly Desirable

  •  Financial/accounting skills.
  • Conflict management and negotiation skills within an operational environment.
  • Team player with exceptional organizational and communications skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of operations, logistics management and resourcing.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to obtain CASA approved Radio Operators Certificate (AROC)Good computer skills.
